An Engineer by day and a completely enthusiastic photographer by night (and sometimes during the day too).

Hello, I'm Chris Dawson, a passionate photographer based in the picturesque county of Lancashire, UK. My journey into the world of photography began in my teens when I first got my hands on a film SLR camera. The magic of capturing moments fascinated me, but as life took its course, other interests drew my attention away from the lens.

Twenty years later, I rediscovered my love for photography, and this time, I haven’t looked back. Returning to photography felt like rekindling a long-lost friendship, one that has since flourished into a passion. Through my lens, I strive to capture the beauty, emotion, and intricacies of the world around me.

I'll try anything, but I particularly like portrait, landscape, street, and wildlife (and if you were to push I'd say macro of bugs), always aiming to convey the unique essence of each scene or subject, with the aim of telling a story with every image.

My photography philosophy is simple: the process is as important as the result. I believe that the journey of capturing an image—the exploration, the research, the waiting for the perfect light, the interaction with the subject—is as valuable as the final photograph itself.  I also think that having fun whilst creating is important, if you can't have a bit of laugh doing something you enjoy the joy is a little less.

Since rekindling my passion for photography, I've become an active member of Burnley Camera Club, joining in 2018, and earning the prestigious title of the club’s Photographer of the Year three times... so far.   I've also recently embarked on the journey of obtaining PAGB Photographic Alliance of Great Britain qualifications, gaining my BPAGB (Badge) in April 2024, and I'm currently working towards his CPAGB (Credit), which I hope to gain later this year.
